#10 Wild Card

Just Dance!

For my wild card blog, I decide to do different types of dances. Dancing has become a large part of today's media craze. With the mass success of Tik Tok and its contribution to dances worldwide, dance is all the hype. As a big fan of dancing and I love to dance, this was a good topic to do a wild card on. Dancing improves your health and is good for your soul. Dancing increases overall muscle strength and pure fitness. Dancing also contributes to your mental health as well. Without further ado, here are the most popular dances from each decade. I won't cover all dances from each decade or name each decade thus far.

1950s

I chose to start with the 50s because I didn't want to go back to far in the past with dancing. 1950s was a reasonable time for popular dances. I will describe a very popular dance in 50s. Lot of 50s included partner dances and there were not many solo dances created back then. Some are quite similar to each other but put a different spin and element to the dance. The first one being Boogie WoogieAs a dance style, Boogie Woogie encompassed any kind of swing dancing done fast and was also called "Jump Swing." The Boogie Woogie was usually danced to blues and Boogie Woogie music with fast tempos. This type of fast dancing included jumps, hops, stomping, and even flying feet, all done at considerable speed.

1960s

The 60s really branched out from under partner dances and began solo dances to create. The most popular dances from the 60s were The Swim and The Twist. The swim dance is pretty self-explanatory. It requires only arm movement that incorporates like you are swimming in a pool. When listening to Chubby Checker's popular song, the only way to move is to twist your body back and forth to the beat. The key to performing the Twist properly is that you must use both your legs and your torso, often in opposite directions.

1980s

The 80s were the defying era of dance. With blockbuster movies based on dance such as Dirty Dancing, Flashdance, and Footloose. The 80s were well-known for dancing. The most iconic dance to date from the 80s is The Moonwalk. The moonwalk is very difficult move to execute and many failed to do. First executed by the late Michael Jackson in 1983, the moonwalk was a star-studded phemenon. Even though the moonwalk technically not a dance, it very influential and shape the dances of the 80s. The 80s chronicles many others dances such as The Robot and Hammer Dance

Who invented the moonwalk? Hint: It wasn't Michael Jackson

2010s

The dances of the 2010s are revolutionary. This is when the new generation started to create dances for younger audience to follow. The most popular dance to start the decade of 2010 and still today is popular is The Dougie. The dougie is an arms-based dance that became popular after the hit 2010 song "Teach Me How to Dougie" by the Cali Swag District. Other dances from this era include Gangnam StyleWhip/Nae Nae and many more.

Millions of people around the world use Tik Tok to create viral dances and become famous.
